Long Beach State Heads North For Cal Cup

The Beach heads to Berkeley to face four ranked opponents this weekend.
Long Beach, Calif. — Long Beach State hits the road for the first time this season as the Beach heads to Berkeley to compete in the Cal Cup.
The two-day event will feature Pacific, No. 8 Fresno State, No. 12 San Jose State, No. 13 UC Davis and host No. 4 Cal.
The Beach will play two games on Saturday and Sunday.
No. 13 Beach will take on Pacific at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday and will wrap up the day with a contest against UC Davis at 2 p.m.
LBSU (2-0) will take on Cal at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday and finish the weekend with a contest against Fresno State at 2 p.m.
WELCOME BACK
After 2021's shortened season, the Beach welcomes back Orsi Hertzka and Marilia Mimides. Hertzka scored a combined 119 goals her last two seasons, while Mimides scored 45 in 2019 - her last season with LBSU.
FIRE POWER
With the return of Hertzka and Mimides the Beach will have a fearsome trio that will include Lena Kotanchyan, who earned All-American Honorable Mention honors last season and led the Beach in goals. In their first action together, the trio scored a combined 21 goals during the Beach Invite.
