LBSU Set to Host Long Beach Invitational at the Jack Rose Track

The outdoor track and field team will host its first meet of the season welcoming USC, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and San Diego State to the Jack Rose Track.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will host its first meet of the season with the Long Beach Invitational this weekend. It is a two-day meet with events happening all day Friday and all day Saturday.

The Beach welcomes four teams to the Jack Rose Track as USC, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and San Diego State will all be participating this weekend.

A limited number of fans will be allowed entry. For more information, click HERE. If attending, fans will be asked to follow this map to gain entry to the track.

The throws events will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. before transitioning to the track for the distance events beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Action will resume the next morning starting with the jump events at 10:30 a.m. Before the event wraps up on Saturday afternoon, Long Beach State will celebrate the careers of their seniors with a ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, the Long Beach Invitational will wrap up with the sprints at 3:00 p.m.

The throwers will lead the way after another fantastic week last time out, including their third consecutive 1-2 finish in the men's Discus Throw from Alec Jones and Charlie Vernoy. Sebastian Coleman is also coming off a victory in the men's Hammer where he posted a new conference-leading mark at the Fullerton Spring Invite.

Porte Joie Tshiaba looks to stay undefeated in the High Jump. The sophomore transfer is currently a perfect 3-0 in the event.

On the women's side, Crystal Washington was the headline in Fullerton for Long Beach State. The junior dominated the Triple Jump posting the third-best mark in school history en route to the victory.
