T&F Claims Six Event Wins at Bob Larsen Track Meet

The Long Beach State outdoor track and field team had their best meet of the season thus far with six event wins and 15 total top threes.

IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State had a very successful day at the Bob Larsen Track Meet on Saturday picking up six victories and totaling 15 top three finishes.
The Beach went 1-2-3 in the men's Discus Throw led by Alec Jones and his mark of 182'0", a new personal best. Charlie Vernoy (173'7") and Sebastian Coleman (169'1") finished second and third, respectively.
Jones and Coleman also placed second and third in the men's Hammer Throw.
Marcos Gonzalez won the men's Javelin on the final throw in the final event of the meet, launching a season best by 15 feet, capturing the victory and closing out the meet with a heave of 199'3".
Hannah Katches finished third on the women's side, shattering her personal best on the first throw of the day with a mark of 140'6".
The jumpers had a big day with Porte Joie Tshiaba claiming the top spot in the men's High Jump remaining undefeated in 2021. His mark of 7'0.5" won the event by five and three-quarter inches.
Jason Smith won a pair of events on Saturday starting with the men's Long Jump at 25'1.75". He switched over to the track a couple hours later taking home the top spot in the 200m setting a new personal best with a time of 21.54.
Crystal Washington placed in the Triple Jump on the women's side, as her 38'8.25" mark put her in second place.
The sprinters also claimed some great placements as Kent Harris and Anthony Palumbo went 1-2 in the men's 100m.
Hailey Fune was the top performer on the women's side finishing in second place in the women's 100m Hurdle, while Kaitlyn Williams finished third in the women's 100m Dash.
Four weeks into the Outdoor season, with just six weeks of training, Long Beach State has set some impressive marks thus far:
