
Smith Wins Long Jump at Stanford Invitational

Jason Smith collected his second consecutive win in the Long Jump with a season-best effort at the Stanford Invitational.
STANFORD, Calif. – Jason Smith made it back-to-back Long Jump victories after posting a season-best mark at the Stanford Invitational on Friday night beating out a jumper from UCLA by just over an inch.
The Northern California native recorded three jumps at 7.78m (25'6.25) in his return to the Bay Area. His mark is a new outdoor personal best, beating out his previous mark by a centimeter.
At 25 feet and 6.25 inches, Smith now holds the ninth longest jump in Long Beach State's history in outdoor. His previous best is tenth longest.
He also holds the school record in the indoor Long Jump at 7.88m that he set at the USATF National Indoor Championship, where he finished in fourth place as the top collegiate finisher.
Smith is set to jump again Saturday morning in the High Jump. He has not jumped outdoors since the NCAA Regionals in 2018. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
