Long Beach State Clinches GCC Regular Season Title

The Beach dsfeats Pepperdine 12-11 Saturday night.
Long Beach, Calif. — Rafael Real Vergara scored six goals and Long Beach State defeated No. 10 Pepperdfine 12-11 Saturday night at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
With the victory, the Beach clinched the Golden Coast Conference regular season title and claimed the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament that will take place at UC Irvine later this month.
Long Beach State found itself in a battle with the Waves early as there were five lead changes and five ties in the first half.
After the first quarter of play, Pepperdine had a 4-3 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Balazs Kosa.
The Beach (18-5, 4-0) answered right back as they went on a 3-2 run as the teams were knotted 6-6 at halftime.
Alika Naone, Matt Morris and Garrett Zaan each found the back of the cage to tie the game at the break.
The close play continued into the third period as there were two ties and two lead changes.
Naone's second goal gave the beach for good as the Beach took an 11-10 lead with 6:51 remaining in the game.
In the cage, Andrej Bosanac had seven saves.
The Beach will wrap up the regular season with contests against Loyola Marymount and UC Irvine next week.
