Long Beach State Women's Volleyball Closes the Season on the Road
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team will take its four-match winning streak on the road as the Beach close the regular season at UC Davis and UC Riverside, respectively. The Beach and the Aggies will face off on Wednesday, November 24 at 2 p.m. at the Pavilion, before LBSU returns to Southern California to take on the Highlanders on Saturday, November 27 at 5 p.m. at the SRC Arena.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State is on a four-match winning steak and the Beach have won five of their last six matches to bring their overall record to 14-15. LBSU is 8-10 in the Big West Conference.
• The Beach went 2-0 last week with a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego on the road and UC Irvine at home.
• Since taking over as interim head coach, Sabrina Hernandez has piloted the Beach to a 5-3 record.
• LBSU celebrated its seniors Miranda Canez and Avery Nelson on Senior Night against UC Irvine in the Beach's last regular season home contest of the year.
• Kashauna Williams continues her hot hitting as she now owns 1,151 career kills to tie Christine Romero for 11th in Long Beach State program history.
• Williams is averaging a conference-leading 4.05 kills per set, which ranks her in the top 50 in the country.
• Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett has continued to turn in an solid rookie season as she is second on the team with 2.66 kills per set, while her 0.37 aces per set rank her fourth in the Big West. On the year, she is averaging 2.75 digs per set, 0.33 assists per set, and 0.25 blocks per set as she contributes on both sides of the ball.
• Sophomore Katie Kennedy has settled in on the right side and is third on the team with 2.53 kills per set on a .255 hitting percentage. The Hood River, Ore., native also contributes 0.71 digs per set and 0.44 blocks per set.
• Senior Miranda Canez continues to lead the Beach in hitting with a .293 attack percentage which ranks her in the top 10 in the Big West. Additionally, she is second on the squad with 0.81 blocks per set, while also contributing 1.48 kills per set.
• At setter, Long Beach State has utilized both sophomore Tia Chavira and freshman Kasia Partyka this season. Chavira leads the way with 8.91 assists per set, while Partyka adds 7.97 assists per set.
• Chavira also contributes 2.48 digs per set, 1.10 kills per set, 0.41 blocks per set, and 0.28 aces per set, while hitting .298 on the year as a solid contributor to Long Beach State.
• Sophomore libero Nicole Hoff has been stout in the back row for the Beach having racked up a total of 399 digs for an average of 3.73 digs per set to rank in the top 10 in the Big West Conference. She also has led the Beach in digs 17 times and has registered double-digit digs in 24 contests.
• At the net freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon has collected 88 total blocks (11 solos, 77 assists) to lead the team with 0.86 blocks. She also contributes 1.12 kills per set on the offensive end.
• Off the bench, Dylan Dela Cruz and Jenna Giambi have been productive for the Beach in the back row contributing 2.12 digs per set and 1.95 digs per set, respectively. Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Avery Nelson has contributed 1.44 kills per set and 1.16 digs per set for LBSU.
Scouting UC Davis
• UC Davis is 11-18 on the year and 7-11 in the Big West.
• The Aggies dropped both their matches last week as they fell in straight sets to UC Santa Barbara last Friday, before dropping a four-set decision at CSUN on Saturday.
• Amara Aimufua leads the Aggies offensively with 3.08 kills per set, while also adding 1.01 digs per set and 0.42 blcoks per set.
• UC Davis splits setter duties between Casi Newman and Jane Seslar. Newman has averaged 5.48 assists per set this season, Seslar has averaged 5.43.
• Shira Lahav is the squad's libero as she anchors the back row with 3.87 digs per set.
• At the net, Josephine Ough leads the way with 1.29 blocks per set to rank second in the Big West.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Aggies
Long Beach State and UC Davis will meet for the 33rd time in program history. Overall, the Beach lead the all-time series 26-2. However, UC Davis has won the last four meetings, including a 3-0 sweep at LBSU earlier this season. The Beach are looking for their first win over the Aggies since 2018.
Scouting UC Riverside
• UC Riverside is 6-22 overall and 2-16 in the Big West.
• The Highlanders are looking to snap a five-match losing streak dating back to Nov. 12.
• UCR has only won two conference matches this season - one against Long Beach State on Oct. 22 and another over UC Irvine on Nov. 4.
• Leading the offensive attack for the Highlanders is Amarachi Osuji who is averaging 2.79 kills per set. She also leads the Highlanders with 2.98 digs per set on the season.
• Zoe Seput is the team's setter as she averages 6.31 assists per set. Dejah Dade has also seen action at setter this season as she has contributed 3.79 assists per set.
• Anya Green and Isabella Scarlett patrol the net with 0.52 and 0.51 blocks per set, respectively.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Highlanders
Long Beach State and UC Riverside will face off for the 56th time in program history. In the all-time series, the Beach leads 50-55. However, earlier this season the Highlanders snapped a 17-match losing streak against the Beach, defeating LBSU in five sets at the Walter Pyramid for UCR's first-ever win over the Beach in Long Beach, Calif.
A Grand Time
Long Beach State junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams joined elite company as she became the 17th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills on October 15. Since then, Williams has added another 151 kills to bring her career total to 1,151. She is now tied for 11th all-time with former LBSU standout Christine Romano.
Aces Wild
Freshman Kailia Lopez came off the bench for the Beach in the match against UC Irvine on Saturday and served up a career-high five aces as she led the Beach on a 15-0 serving run. With Lopez at the service line, Long Beach State was able to break the game wide open, cruising to a 25-11 win over the Anteaters in the third set to complete the sweep in the Black and Blue Rivalry game.
