No. 7 Long Beach State Hits The Road For Two

The Beach takes on No. 9 UC San Diego, before opening GCC play on Saturday vs. UC Santa Barbara.

Long Beach, Calif. — The Long Beach State men's water polo will be on the road twice this week as they take on No. 9 UC San Diego and No. 5 UC Santa Barbara.  
 
The Beach (13-4) will travel San Diego to take on the Tritons on Wednesday before traveling up to Santa Barbara to open Golden Coast Conference play against the Gauchos on Saturday.  
 
Wednesday, Oct. 6 
No. 7 Long Beach State at No. 9 UC San Diego

Saturday, Oct. 9 
No. 7 Long Beach State at No. 5 UC Santa Barbara

RECORD DAY 
The Beach opened the Gary Troyer Tournament last Saturday with a 36-5 victory over Fresno Pacific. The 36 goals is a new single-game record for LBSU, breaking a mark that was set in 1998.  

HOT START 
The Beach started the season 8-0 after sweeping their competition at the Triton Invitational and Inland Empire Classic. It was the best start for the program since 2005. 

PATIENTLY WAITING  
The Beach hasn't competed since the 2019 season and is ready to get back in the pool after not competing during the 2020 season.   

INTERNATIONAL TIES   
The Beach had four athletes compete at this year's FINA Men's Junior Water Polo Championships in Prague. Liam Ward, Zach Frazier and Evan Cain competed for the USA, while Abdelrahman Soliman competed with Egypt.    

OLYMPIC COMPETITION   
Coach Gavin Arroyo represented the United States at the Tokyo Games as an assistant coach for the national men's water polo team.
