Four Long Beach State players scored 14 or more in the win.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State never trailed in its return to the Walter Pyramid, holding off a late charge from Seattle with a 3-pointer from Isaiah Washington and clutch free throw shooting for an 80-75 win.
Despite being the first game in the Walter Pyramid since early March and playing without fans in attendance, Long Beach State (1-1) clearly felt at home in the friendly confines of the Beach. Long Beach State finished the game shooting 47.5 percent and had four players score 14 or more, led by Isaiah Washington's 24 points and Michael Carter III's 17.
Long Beach State also won the battle on the glass by seven, led by Chance Hunter who recorded his second career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Romelle Mansel set a career-high in rebounding for the second time in two games with ten boards.
The Beach opened the game on a 6-0 run and pushed out to a nine-point lead over Seattle (3-3) at 14-5 over the first seven minutes. While the RedHawks cut the lead back to three in the closing minutes of the half, a Washington layup in the final possession gave the Beach a 33-28 halftime edge.
In the second half, a 10-3 run helped push the Long Beach State lead to 12 with 9:28 to play, but Seattle would ride its two stars to pull back into the game. Darrion Trammell finished with 32 points and Riley Grigsby added 24, combining for 11 made threes that helped Seattle pull back into the game. Fouled on a 3-point attempt, Trammell made three free throws to tie the game at 72 with 2:41 remaining.
The Redhawks wouldn't get over the top though, as Washington buried a three at the top of the key to extend the lead once again, and then a crucial offensive rebound in the final 30 seconds allowed the Beach to close out the game at the free throw line for an 80-75 win.
Long Beach State's next scheduled contest is with San Francisco on December 10. Details for that contest will be revealed as available through the @LBSUHoops twitter account as well as on www.longbeachstate.com.

The highlight of tonight's @LBSUhoops win was Chance Hunter putting a Seattle player in the rim. Enjoy!
