LBSU Cross Country Gears Up To Compete At UC Riverside Invitational

LBSU will compete in their second meet of the season.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will compete in their second meet of the season on Saturday, September 14 at the 39th Annual UC Riverside Invitational. There will be four different events scheduled for the meet. The women's 6K Invitational race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., while the men's 8K Invitational kicks off at 8:05 a.m. There will be an open section of the women's 5K race and men's 8K that will take place at 8:40 a.m., and 9:10 a.m.

Women's 6K - 7:30 a.m.
Men's 8K - 8:05 a.m.
Women's 5K Open – 8:40 a.m.
Men's 8K Open – 9:10 a.m.

OPENER AT MARK COVERT CLASSIC
Long Beach State senior Alyssa Allen led the women's team in their first meet of the season to a sixth place finish at the Mark Covert Classic. Allen placed 21st overall with a time of 18:49.40. Freshman Maggie Bauer finished her first meet for the Beach, running to a time of 18:55.30.

On the men's side, sophomores Michael Simpson and Ricky Cardenas were the top finishers for the Beach, pushing the team to a fifth place finish overall. Simpson recorded a personal-best time of 25:33.40 in the 8K to place 17th, while Cardenas followed in 24th place with a time of 25:47.70.
