Men’s Cross Country With Highest Finish Since 2011 At NCAA West Regionals

Levi Taylor, Cameron Rhone lead LBSU to 16th place finish.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Competing at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, Long Beach State closed out their season with their highest Men's finish since 2011, placing 16th out of the 34 competing teams at the meet.
 
The Beach was led by junior Levi Taylor, who rebounded after the Big West Championships with a strong performance at the West Regionals, finishing with a 10K PR of 30.57.5 to place 75th overall. Junior Cameron Rhone was just behind, taking 82nd overall. Cristian Martinez smashed his 10K best to take 105th, while Cameron Gill and Miles Jones closed out Long Beach State's scoring runners as the Beach had their best finish in 14 years.
 
On the women's side, Long Beach State senior Alyssa Tapanes continued her strong finish to the season, crossing as the top finisher for the Beach with a 6K time of 21:47. Marikay Schwab was next at 22:07.6, followed by Jadyn Palaschuk, Brooke Willoughby and Darcy Ray. Overall the women's program finished in 26th out of 39 participating teams.
