Men’s Finish Best In Four Years At Big West Cross Country Championships

Junior Cameron Rhone was the top finisher for Long Beach State in 14th place overall.
HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Big West's signature event of the Cross Country season was held Friday from Honolulu, as the Beach battled the rest of the conference from Queen Kapi'olani Regional Park at the Big West Championships.
Final Results
The men's team raced to their best finish at the conference championship since the 2021 season, finishing in fifth place overall following the 8K race. Junior Cameron Rhone led the way for the Beach, taking 14th place overall with a time just over 25 minutes at 25:01.8.
Miles Jones finished with a strong kick to place 22nd overall, while Cristian Martinez finished just behind him in 24th place. Senior Cameron Gill placed 28th overall and Levi Taylor crossed the line fifth for the Beach, scoring 47 points and securing the fifth-place finish for the Beach in front of UC San Diego, CSUN, UC Irvine and UC Riverside, a three-spot improvement in the second year under the leadership of Cross Country head coach Devin Elizondo.
Jadyn Palaschuk was the top finisher for the women's team, crossing the line in 22:13.0 in 24th place overall. Senior Alyssa Tapanes was seconds behind in 27th place. Marikay Schwab, Sharice Laygo and Brooke Willoughby then closed out the scoring for the Beach, finishing close together in 54th, 55th and 57th place respectively among the 94 runners.
As a team, Long Beach State finished in eighth place overall, finishing in front of Hawai'i, CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield. Cal Poly won both the Men's and Women's team titles.
Long Beach State will next compete in the NCAA West Regional on November 14, hosted by Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif.
