LBSU Competes In First Meet of the Year at Mark Covert Classic

Senior Alyssa Allen was the top finisher for the Beach.

BREA, Calif. – Senior Alyssa Allen and sophomore Michael Simpson were the top finishers for the women and men as they completed their first competition of the year at the Mark Covert Classic.

  The women finished sixth out of 21 competing schools, led by Allen who finished in 21st place overall in the 5K, running a time of 18:49.40. Following closely behind was freshman Maggie Baurer in 26th place finishing with a time of 18:55.30 brining in points for the Beach. Senior Julie Vargas was also a top finisher for the Beach with a time of 18:59.40.

On the men's side, sophomore Michael Simpson led the team to a fifth place finish and also placed 17th overall with a time of 25:33.40. Fellow teammate Ricky Cardenas followed with a time of 25:47.70, placing 24th overall.

Freshman's Ricky Villa and Antonio Munoz were the next two finishers for the Beach.
Both teams will be back September 14th to compete at the UC Riverside Invitational.Â
