
Raleigh Adams Advances to the 2019 NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- LBSU wrapped up the final day at the NCAA West Preliminaries with a total of five student-athletes advancing to the 2019 NCAA Championships. Kemonie Briggs will advance in the long jump, Courtne' Davis in the 100m, Bria Palmer in the high jump, Herman Day in the Decathlon, and Raleigh Adams will join his teammates in the 110m hurdles.
Adams was the highlight of the day for the Beach, finishing fourth overall in the 110m hurdles with his second-fastest and wind-legal time of 13.63 to automatically advance to the NCAA Championships. The junior is currently ranked No.7 in the nation, coming out of the preliminary round, clocking a 13.59.
More on the track, the men's 4x100m relay team of Ajose Femi, Kent Harris, Chaio Winters, and Kemonie Briggs wrapped up their season with a season-best time of 40.34. The quartet placed 17th overall and was just five spots out from advancing to the NCAA Championships.
In the field, the 2017 All-American Vincent Calhoun finished up his college career in the high jump with a jump of 6-11.00 to place 17th. The senior was just five spots out from qualifying to the nationals. Calhoun remains in the record books with a jump of 7-03.00 and is considered one of the greatest field athletes the program has seen.
LBSU senior Tavi Kamarullah left it on the field and showcased immense effort in the men's shot put. The senior fouled out in the event, not advancing to the NCAA Championships. Kamarullah showed consistency throughout the season and is listed as No.8 in the record books with a throw of 58-06.50.
The Beach will be back in action for the 2019 NCAA Championships in Austin, June 5-8 and compete in a total of of five events.
