Long Beach State Sends Four Athletes to Texas For NCAA Championships

Long Beach, Calif. – Long Beach State will be sending a strong group to the NCAA Championships with four competitors advancing from the NCAA West Preliminaries two weeks ago.

Long Beach State will get started right away on day one in Austin, Tex. as Men's Big West Field Athlete of the Year Kemonie Briggs will open up in the long jump on Wednesday, June 5. Briggs enters the competition ranked No.10 with a jump of 7.96m (26-01.50). The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PT, with coverage provided throughout the week by ESPN3.

On the track, Big West Athlete of the Week Raleigh Adams will compete in the semifinal of the 110m hurdles, coming off of an outstanding performance at the NCAA West regionals and No.11 ranking with a personal-best time of 13.59. The event will take place at 3:32 p.m. PT on Wednesday and will be televised live on ESPN2.

The following day, Long Beach State's premier sprinter Courtne' Davis will take center stage in in her first appearance at the NCAA Championships in an individual event. Davis will compete in the 100m dash semifinal round scheduled Thursday, June 6 at 6:16 p.m., PT with efforts of advancing to the finals held on Saturday. The senior previously ran a lifetime-best of 11.37 at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento, and is currently ranked No.37 going into this week's championship.

Senior Bria Palmer will take flight in the women's high jump on Saturday, June 8 at 3:00 p.m. PT. Palmer enters the competition ranked No.22 in the event with a personal-best jump of 5-10.75. Saturday's competition will be televised through ESPN3.
