No. 14 LBSU extends win streak to eight with a second half surge against No. 17 Princeton.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 14 Long Beach State (14-10) used a second half output to take down the No. 17 Princeton Tigers (15-7) and extend their win streak to eight with a score of 8-2. LBSU was led by junior Marilia Mimidi who had a hat trick on the night. Junior Eirini Patras stood tall in the cage as she tied her career high of 16 saves and tied the third best amount of saves in a match in LBSU history. Eirini tied the same record back in her freshman year along with Kelly Ringel and Bri Hawkins.

The match opened with a low scoring quarter as Princeton would lead the Beach at the end of one, 1-0. LBSU would score twice, late in the second quarter as senior Tori Morrissey would tie the game followed by freshman Orsi Hertzka scoring to give the Beach a 2-1 lead.

Long Beach State would not score again until midway through the third quarter as Mimidi would score her first goal of the night to push LBSU up 3-1. Princeton would score a minute later and that would be the final time the Tigers would see the back of the net. Freshman Sarah Barker, Morrissey, and sophomore Olivia Grim would all score before the end of the third to extend LBSU's lead to 6-2.

Mimidi would score twice more before the night would end in the fourth quarter to bag a hat trick on the night and put the finishing touches on the win, 8-2.

Patras led the Beach in their defensive stint as she blocked shot after shot. Mimidi now has 35 goals on the season. The Brazilian junior also capped her hat trick by adding on two assists on the night. Hertzka now has 55 goals on the season, while Barker has 32 goals. Morrissey extends her total to 26 and Grim now has 25 goals on the season.
