The Beach hosts Youngstown State and Houston this week.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will take a short break from Big West Conference action with a pair of home matches beginning on Wednesday, when the Beach hosts Youngstown State in the Rhodes Tennis Center. That match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Youngstown State (3-10) has struggled on their trip to the West Coast, falling on the road at Cal State Fullerton as well as CSUN both by 7-0 scores. Their game against Long Beach State (8-2) will be their final match on their West Coast swing before returning to Ohio.
The next day, Thursday at Noon, Long Beach State will host Houston (8-5). The Cougars will play two matches on their trip to California, starting with LBSU before heading south to play San Diego State.
For the Beach, Lalita Devarakonda remains unbeaten in singles action, now 7-0 on the season, leading a strong team effort that has the team 37-17 overall in singles play so far this season. In doubles, the Beach has been more balanced, but the duo of Devarakonda and Natalia Munoz has led the way, going 7-1 in dual matches.
As a team, Long Beach State's only two losses this year have come by 4-3 margins, and the Beach looks to get back on a winning streak heading into three non-conference matches before resuming Big West play at home against Hawai'i and UC Santa Barbara.
