Tennis Dominant In 7-0 Win Over Youngstown State

Long Beach State didn’t drop a set in the sweep.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State won all three doubles matches in addition to sweeping singles in a 7-0 win Wednesday over Youngstown State. The Beach won all six singles matches in straight sets on the way to the win in the first of two matches this week.
The day started with a sweep of doubles for Long Beach State (9-2). Wiktoria Rutkowska and Dominique Meyer got the day started with a 6-2 win over Tamara Teufl and Elvira Esteo, and then Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda sealed the point with a 6-3 victory over Imaan Hassim and Claudia Barboza.
Carolota Casasampere saw action in doubles for the second time in dual season, and picked up a win along with Zara Lennon in the closest match of the day, winning the tiebreaker for a 7-6 victory against Cassandra Moraleja and Lisa Khamassi.
Long Beach State won comfortably in all six singles matches against Youngstown State (3-11). Meyer cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6, and wins in the top two flights from Bardet and Rutkowska clinched the match. Bardet was also a 6-1, 6-1 win over Teufl, and Rutkowska won 6-2, 6-1 against Hassim.
Lennon was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at No. 4, and Munoz picked up her ninth dual win of the season in a 75-, 6-1 win against Khamassi. Devarakonda closed out the sweep with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Esteo.
Long Beach State will serve as hosts again tomorrow, when Houston visits the Rhodes Tennis Center at Noon.
