Men’s Water Polo Headed To Pepperdine For Golden Coast Conference Tournament

Seeded fourth, Long Beach State will play No. 5 Seed San Jose State Friday at 1 p.m.
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Beach (16-12, 2-3 GCC) will travel to Malibu, Calif. for the Golden Coast Conference Tournament this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Long Beach State captured the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 5 Seed San Jose (7-18, 1-4 GCC) at Pepperdine's Raleigh Memorial Pool on Friday at 1 p.m.
Play begins on Friday, Nov. 22 with a pair of first round games and continues on Saturday, Nov. 23 with semifinals and then the Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.
If the Beach is victorious on Friday afternoon, they will take on the No. 1 seed Pacific on Saturday at 1 p.m. If the Beach loses Friday afternoon, they will play the loser of game one at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday to end their tournament play.
The Beach is led by Senior Austin Stewart who currently ranks third in Long Beach State History with 198 career goals scored. Stewart is also just shy of reaching the top ten in goals scored in a single season with 61. Stewart also leads the team in steals with 38 and assists with 27.
Following Stewart, Sophomore Matt Morris who has 45 goals on the season and Freshman Rafael Real Vergara who has 43 goals on the season in only 16 games played.
