LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State's men's and women's program is set to compete at the NCAA West Regional meet this Friday, November 15 at Colfax Golf Club in Colfax Wash. The women's 6K will kick off the competition at 11:30 a.m., while the men's 10K will take place at 12:30 p.m.

The NCAA West Regional is one of nine regionals around the country. Eighteen teams and 36 individuals will advance automatically. Thirteen teams and two individuals will be chosen by an NCAA subcommittee on Saturday (Nov. 16) for at-large selections. The top 25 runners in each race receive All-Region recognition.

The women's program will be competing against 37-teams this year, while the men's program will compete against 29-teams at the NCAA West Regional in Colfax, Wash. Their competition consists of Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii', Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Saint Mary's, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, UNLV, Washington and Washington State.

LAST YEAR'S WEST REGIONAL
The LBSU men's and women's team showed improvement in their previous performance at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, Calif. The men's team finished in 26th place among 29 teams with 694 points, while the women's team also finished their season in 26th place among 36 teams with 751 points. Freshman Tyler Spencer was the first to cross the finish line for the Beach in 107th place with a time of 31:46.00.

BEACH AT BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP
The LBSU men's team finished in sixth place among eight teams with 167 points, while the women finished in seventh out of nine teams at the Big West Championships hosted by UC Riverside. Sophomore Michael Simpson and senior Alyssa Allen were the top finishers, dropping a PR of 25:40.10 in the 10K, and 22:07.90 in the 6K.
