No. 7 Long Beach State Celebrates Victories In Double Header

Long Beach State Beats No. 19 San Jose State 10-6 and Golden West College 13-6 on Saturday
LONG BEACH, Calif.—No. 7 Long Beach State collected wins against No. 19 San Jose State 10-6 and Golden West College 13-6 on Saturday at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center to improve to 12-8 on the year.
In the first contest of the day, the Beach defeated the Spartans 10-6 in their first conference game of the season. Long Beach State jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter and led at halftime by a 4-3 margin.
After the defensive first two periods, the Beach outscored San Jose State (3-12) 6-3 in the second half to go on to the wins.
Long Beach State was led by freshman Rafael Real Vergara who scored four goals to lead the Beac. Senior Austin Stewart continues to impress with three goals, while Quinten Osborne, Eduardo Wainberg, and Nemanja Bakic also contributed a goal each in the win over San Jose State.
In the second match of the day against Golden West College (13-4), the Rustlers took an early lead behind three first quarter goals. In the end, the quality and depth of Long Beach State proved to be too much for Golden West to handle.
Long Beach State held the Rustlers off of the board in the second quarter to take a lead into halftime, and a second-half hat trick from sophomore Allesio Brunochelli led the Beach to the win.
Long Beach will return to the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center next Saturday at 6 p.m. where they will take on GCC Rival UC Santa Barbara.
