Simpson, Allen Lead the Beach At Santa Clara Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The LBSU Cross Country team competed at their third meet of the season at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Michael Simpson led his second meet of the season for the Beach, while Alyssa Allen led the women's side for the third consecutive week.

Simpson had a strong performance on Saturday, running to a lifetime-best of 24:35.60 to place 18th overall in the 8K Invitational section. Following for the men was sophomore Raymon Ornelas who finished in 21st and also recorded a lifetime-best of 24:38.0. Ricky Villa finished in 52nd with a time of 24:57.20.

Overall, the men's program finished in ninth place out of 23 teams, grabbing a total of 242 points.

The women's program placed 18th overall out of 26 teams, with a total of 440 points. Allen continues to be the top finisher for the Beach, finishing strong with a new personal-best time of 21:02.20 to place 26th in the 6K Invitational section. The senior currently holds the sixth fastest time in school history following her performance on Saturday. Following was senior Julie Vargas in 73rd place with a time of 21:48.70. Sophomore Tiana Prince finished with a lifetime-best of 22:09.90 in the Invitational section.

Long Beach State will be back in action on Friday, October 25 at the Titan Invitational.
