FIRST RUN
The Long Beach State men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the NCAA West Regional meet Friday, November 9 at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif. The women's 6K will start off the competition at 11 a.m., while the men's 10K is set to start at Noon

ABOUT THE REGIONAL
The NCAA West Regional is one of nine regionals around the country. Eighteen teams and 36 individuals will advance automatically. Thirteen teams and two individuals will be chosen by an NCAA subcommittee on Saturday (Nov. 10) for at-large selections. The top 25 runners in each race receive All-Region recognition.

REGIONAL FIELD
The Beach will be competing against 37-teams at this year's NCAA West Regional meet in Sacramento. Their competition consists of Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii', Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Saint Mary's, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, UNLV, Washington and Washington State.

LAST YEAR'S WEST REGIONAL
The LBSU men's and women's team look to improve their previous performance at the NCAA West Regionals in Seattle, Wash. The men's team finished in 29th place among 30 teams with 770 points, while the women's team finished their season in 28th place among 36 teams with 783 points. Junior Mikayla Florez was the top finisher for the women's team, crossing the line in 104th with a 6K time of 21:41.7.

BEACH AT BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP
The LBSU men's team finished in fifth place among eight teams with 134 points at the Big West Championships hosted by Cal State Fullerton. Freshman Tyler Spencer led the LBSU men's team and finished the 8K in eighth place with a new PR of 24:50.5. The freshman's performance was the highest finish for any LBSU men's cross country runner since 2013. Freshman Mauren Fitzsimmons was the top finisher for the women's team, finishing in 26th place in the 5K with a time of 22:52.1.

LBSU COMPETES IN HIGHLEANDER INVITATIONAL
The LBSU men's team finished in third place among 20 teams in the 8K with 110 points at the Highlander Invitational back on October 13. Â The women's team finished in the top ten in the 5K, taking eighth place among 22 teams with 204 points. Freshman Tyler Spencer and Leslie Diaz were the top finishers for the Beach posting 11th and 29th place finishes. Trevor Stangle has also been a consistent top finisher for the men's program following in 13th place with a time of 25:02.4. Â
