LBSU Cross Country Team Finishes Out The Season At The NCAA Regionals

Freshman Sofia Ramos and Tyler Spencer were the top finishers for the Beach.
SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Long Beach State cross country men's and women's team closed out their 2018 season on Friday at the NCAA West Regional meet at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.

The women's team finished in 26th place among 36 teams, with a total of 751 points.
Â
Freshman Sofia Ramos was the top finisher for the Beach, crossing the line in 113th place with a new PR of 21:45.7.

Freshman Leslie Diaz finished in 142nd (22:08.1), followed by fellow freshman Mauren Fitzsimmons in 145th (22:11.2), senior Alyssa Allen placing 172nd (22:31.8), and junior Julie Vargas in 197th (22:51.8).

On the men's side, LBSU placed 26th among 29 competing teams with 694 points.

Freshman Tyler Spencer was the top runner for the Beach, crossing the line in 107th place with a time of 31:46.0.

Freshman Raymon Ornelas finished in 115th (31:55.5), followed by fellow freshman Gavin Korby in 155th (32:46.1), freshman Ricardo Cardenas in 168th (33:06.4), and freshman Wayne Richards in 176th (33:20.0).

On the women's side, the University of Oregon captured the team titled with 59 points and closely behind in second was Boise State with 76 points. Portland claimed the men's team title with 77 points and Washington finished in second-place with a total of 82 points.
