Long Beach State to face Pacific on Friday at 7 p.m. and San Jose State on Sunday at 12 p.m.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 8 Long Beach State (7-11, 0-2 GCC) will travel up north to take on No. 5 Pacific (10-9, 3-0 GCC) on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and No. 20 San Jose State (6-14, 0-2 GCC) on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 12 p.m. The Beach are on the search for their first Golden Coast Conference win and will hope to achieve so on the road this weekend. The Beach will have history on their side as they are 48-34 against Pacific and 9-1 against San Jose State all-time. LBSU has not faced San Jose State this season, however they faced Pacific two weeks ago in the MPSF Invite. The Tigers overpowered the Beach in a close battle for seventh place as LBSU fell, 10-9.
The Tigers are 2-2 in their last four games with their two wins coming against No. 6 UC Santa Barbara and No. 7 Pepperdine. Pacific's losses have been against No. 1 USC and No. 2 Stanford. The Beach will be looking to hand the Tigers their first conference loss of the season. San Jose State are 1-3 in their last four games with the three losses coming against No. 11 UC Irvine, St. Francis College Brooklyn, and No. 16 Brown. The Spartans win was in a close battle against No. 14 Bucknell University. SJSU is winless in conference play and the Beach will aim to keep it that way as they travel north.
The Beach are looking to snap their four game losing skid, with losses coming from No. 1 USC, twice, No. 6 UC Santa Barbara, and current foe No. 5 Pacific. Long Beach State displayed a well-balanced offense in their last match against the Gauchos as they had seven different players score their seven goals. The Beach will look to use their strong offensive regime against both foes; Pacific allows on average 9.8 goals per game, while San Jose State allows more than 12.05 goals per game. Junior Austin Stewart leads the Beach with 35 total goals on the season, followed by senior Keegan Wicken, and junior Johnathan Wong who have 18 goals on the season. Freshman Garrett Zaan (11 goals) will look to continue his impressive play having scored in seven consecutive matches.
