
No. 7 Long Beach State Topples No. 6 UC Santa Barbara As Part Of A Saturday Split

Berkeley, Calif. - Long Beach State took command early against No. 6 UC Santa Barbara and earned an important win after falling to the Trojans in the team's first match of the day.
Coming off a win Friday over No. 11 UC Davis, Long Beach State faced off against No. 2 USC in their first of two Saturday games.
The Trojans took a 3-2 lead following one quarter, and then added two more in both the second and third quarters while holding the Beach off the board on the way to a 9-4 win.
Jacob Fujioka recorded a multi-goal game to lead the offense. Nolan McConnell and Keegan Wicken also chipped in with one goal apiece.
Goalie Thomas Freeman finished the game with five saves.
LBSU was back in the pool at 4:35 p.m. to take on No. 6 UCSB in their second game of the day. It was a different story in this one as the 49ers bounced back and triumphed to a 9-6 victory.
Nolan McConnell continued his stellar offensive play with four goals scored, all of them coming in the first half. Mitchell Holden was also a core contributor on the offensive end with two goals of his own.
Thomas Freeman had 16 saves to anchor the defense and continued his solid stretch in the cage.
Long Beach State takes on No. 5 Stanford at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in their last game of the Mountain Pacific Invitational.
