49ers close trip with 6-1 win over DePaul

Chicago, Ill. - Long Beach State had another tough match against DePaul, seeing four matches go to three sets, but Long Beach State prevailed in all four to beat the Blue Demons 6-1 in the team's third match in as many days.
Long Beach State won the doubles point on the strength of a win over a ranked opponent, as Anais Dallara and Klaudia Malenovska beat No. 75 Milinkovic/McKnight 8-5 to take the point following a win at No. 2, as Jaklin Alawi and Rachel Manasse beat Lawson/Salkovic 8-4. The Blue Demons won the third match as Gustafson/Raymond bested LBSU's Cantlay/Luzar 8-3.
In singles, Malenovska rebounded from her first loss this season in a two-set win, the only one for the 49ers Saturday, beating Gia McKnight 6-4, 7-6 (4). Rachel Manasse lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 to Kelsey Lawson, but all four of the remaining matches went to a third set.
Sarah Cantlay rebounded from a first-set loss to win the next two sets over Selma Salkovic 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5, while Anna Jeczmionka lost a tiebreaker to go to a third set, where she regained control in a 6-3, 6-7 (3) 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Anais Dallara won at No. 1 singles, beating Katarina Milinkovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, while Deborah Armstrong defeated Christana Raymond 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
With the 6-1 win, the 49ers handed DePaul its first loss at home this season, as the team that began the season ranked in the Top 30 had been 6-0 at home.
Long Beach State closes out its home season next weekend, hosting Oregon next Friday, April 8, before hosting a key conference match with No. 42 Cal Poly on Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. in the Rhodes Tennis Center.
