Strong doubles play and five straight-set singles victories carry the Beach past Youngstown State at home

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State extended its winning streak to two matches with a 6-1 victory over Youngstown State on Thursday at Rhodes Tennis Center, following up Wednesday's 7-0 sweep of Seton Hall. The Beach improved to 7-6 overall heading into weekend Big West action.

The Beach once again established control early by securing the doubles point. On court one, Cecilia Costa and Paulina Franco defeated Yoana Dudova and Hanna Telzynska 6-3. Pamela Badillo and Thea Jagare clinched the point on court two with a 6-4 win over Line Greyling and Yeseniia Ovcharova. The third doubles match, featuring Daisy Carpenter and Diana De Simone, was left unfinished with Long Beach State trailing 3-5 once the point had been decided.

Carrying that momentum into singles, Long Beach State claimed five of six matches to seal the 6-1 decision.
Pamela Badillo was first off the court at No. 5 singles, earning a decisive 6-2, 6-0 victory over Greyling. Cecilia Costa followed at No. 2 with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win against Lorena Cedeno to extend the Beach lead. Diana De Simone added another point at the top of the lineup, defeating Telzynska 6-3, 6-0 on court one.

Paulina Franco delivered another straight-sets win at No. 4, topping Dudova 6-3, 6-4, while Thea Jagare secured the fifth singles point in a competitive match at No. 3, closing out Ovcharova 6-3, 7-5.

Youngstown State's lone point came at No. 6 singles, where Sarah Partida Garcia defeated Daisy Carpenter 6-2, 7-5.

With back-to-back victories to open the week, Long Beach State will look to maintain its momentum as Big West foe UC Davis travels to Rhodes Tennis Center this Sunday for a conference match. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
