Liz Grimes has served in multiple roles since joining Long Beach State prior to the 2009 season, and is currently the Director of Sport Operations where she helps teams manage travel and assists in business operations. She transitioned into that position following over 10 years of working with both the Men's and Women's Water Polo programs at the Beach. 

Grimes, a 1990 graduate of Long Beach State, returned to her alma mater after 20 successful years in the sports industry. While at LBSU, Grimes was a member of the women’s swim team and president of the women’s water polo club. She was also a member of the USA Women’s National Team. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, Grimes went on to earn her master’s degree in sport management from the United States Sports Academy in 2004.

She returned to Long Beach State after working with USA Water Polo as the associate director of sport development. Grimes also worked as a water polo commentator at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and assistant men’s and women’s water polo coach at Harvard University. There she helped guide the women’s team to its highest Eastern Championship finish in 10 years.

Grimes served in an administrative role for the United States Men’s National Team FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea in 2019.

Prior to working with USA Water Polo, Grimes worked in public relations for Major League Baseball and credentialed for the World Baseball Classic.
