Gabi Acosta Named Men’s Water Polo Big West Player Of The Week

The All-American center continues to impress on offense.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West announced Wednesday that sophomore center Gabi Acosta was awarded the first Big West weekly honors of the 2025 season. The All-American center led Long Beach State on offense with 25 goals in six games.
The Beach (5-1) opened their 2025 slate in the Triton Invite hosted by UC San Diego, defeating No. 20 Navy, 13-11, George Washington, 18-9, Pomona-Pitzer, 24-10, La Verne, 31-8, and Occidental, 25-3. The only loss of the weekend came in a tight contest against No. 10 San Jose State, dropping 14-12.
Acosta paced Long Beach State's offense, scoring in all games. The center tied his career high of five goals on three occasions while adding a team high of four goals in the duel against the Spartans.
No. 7 Long Beach State remains on the road as they face No. 2 USC (4-0) on Friday at 5 p.m. and Chapman (0-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m.
