Stefan Ludecke enters his third year as an assistant coach for the 49er men's program.
Ludecke was a two-year letterwinner for the 49ers after beginning his collegiate career at Long Beach City College. Ludecke finished sixth on the team in his senior season (2005) with 24 goals scored. He played in 27 games, earning 10 starts, as the 49ers finished the season at 17-18. He finished tied for fourth on the squad with 19 steals and was fifth with 14 assists. In 2004 he recorded 11 goals, appearing in 25 games with 21 starts. The 49ers finished the 2004 season at 17-12 and tied for fourth place in the MPSF with a 4-4 mark. His 12 assists that year were fourth on the team. Ludecke also succeeded in the classroom as he was named to the 2005 MPSF All-Acacemic Team. He was a 49er Academic All-Star in Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 and earned his degree in Religious Studies from Long Beach State in 2006.
At Long Beach City College , Ludecke was a two-time first team CCCAA All-American, as well as a two-time first team All-Southern California. He was the South Coast Conference MVP in 2001 and co-MVP in 2002. LBCC won back-to-back league titles and finished in third place at the state championships in both 2001 and 2002.
A graduate of Realschule Heidkamp Quickborn School, Ludecke hails from Hamburg, Germany. His father, Rolf, was a water polo player for the German National Team and has served as a referee at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.
