Hired in 2019, Matulis enters his second season as an assistant coach at the Beach.
A great player on one of Long Beach State’s most successful teams, Matulis was a four-year letterwinner for the Beach, earning AWPCA All-American honors as a senior. His 69 goals in 2012 rank fifth all-time in one season at Long Beach State, and while at the Beach he earned a United States Senior Men’s National Team call-up in 2013.
Following his playing career, Matulis spent three years at Golden West CC as an assistant with both the men’s and women’s programs. Before returning to the Beach, Matulis played a big part in their success, helping guide the men’s program to an 88-1 overall record during his time there.
Matulis earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology at Long Beach State and is a certified mental performance consultant.
