Women’s Water Polo Hosts Cal State Fullerton For Big West Play Saturday

The Beach looks to extend their winning streak against the Titans.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Coming in with a four-game winning streak, No. 8 Long Beach State returns home looking to extend the streak by hosting Cal State Fullerton on Saturday at Noon at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
Long Beach State (12-9, 3-1 Big West) comes off a perfect weekend on the road as they beat No. 16 UC San Diego, 19-11, in conference play and followed with two wins at the Aztec Invite, beating Bucknell, 19-6, and No. 9 Indiana, 12-7.
During the weekend, senior Elisa Portillo powered the offense with nine goals and six assists, while Chiara Amoroso and Lucy Miszewski each added eight across the three games. Portillo leads the team across three categories with 52 goals, 39 assists, and 26 steals. Miszewski and Amoroso have been key players for the Beach, adding 48 and 41 goals, respectively.
Cal State Fullerton (16-11, 1-3 Big West) played two games this past weekend, falling short to No. 23 California Baptist, 13-11, and dropping a Big West game at No. 10 UC Irvine, 17-5. Leading the Titans on the season is Destiny Hernandez with 44 goals, while Emme Doube-MacLeod has a team-high 27 assists and 35 steals. On defense, Tenske Boxsem recorded 167 saves and 26 steals.
