LONG BEACH, Calif. – Shutting down Cal State Fullerton for over 20 minutes, No. 8 Long Beach State took control for their fourth conference win, dominating in a 22-3 win at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
Long Beach State (13-9, 4-1 Big West) got off to a quick start with Chiara Amoroso scoring her first of the day on a power play. Cal State Fullerton (16-12, 1-4 Big West) answered back, but it was all about the Beach after that, scoring four unanswered goals to extend the lead to 5-1 at the end of the first period.
The Titans fought back early to keep the game close, scoring back-to-back goals to cut the margin to 5-3. Elisa Portillo added one on an individual play, and the Beach never looked back, scoring another five to lead 11-3 at half.
Shutting down Fullerton in the second half, Long Beach State added seven in the third and another four in the fourth to dominate the Titans in Big West play, 22-3.
Portillo and Miszewski led all scorers with four goals each, while Chiara Amoroso and Rita Gurri both added hat tricks in the win. Jermonie Billingsly and Daniela Quinzada added a pair each, and Angeliki Arroyo, Grace Cuozzo, Zelma Koka, and Brooklyn Plomp added one on the day. Polina Synytsia recorded seven saves across three periods, and Charlotte Echlin added three in the final quarter.
The Beach will continue their homestand, facing No. 4 California on Wednesday at 4 p.m. with live stats provided through TheFOSH.net.
