Kang In Top Five During Long Beach State Debut As Women’s Golf Finishes Their First Tournament Of The Season

Emma Kang, an Idaho transfer, led Long Beach State at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Long Beach State's newcomer Emma Kang led the way for the Beach in the team's first tournament of the year, finishing tied for fifth place at one-under par for the tournament as the Beach finished the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
Final Results
Kang's tournament score of 215 was the best of the team after a strong day Monday, but the Beach had a number of other solid performances on Tuesday. Fellow transfer Alyson Sor had her best round of the tournament with a 74, leading LBSU on the day, and returners Madison Le and Erin Lee both shot 75 on Tuesday.
Le was the next best finisher for Long Beach State in the tournament, just outside the Top 20 in a tie for 21st overall in the 89-participant field.
Freshman Kailey Yoon, playing as an individual, also had a score of 75 to finish the tournament while Chloe Park climbed six places on the leaderboard in her first collegiate tournament with a final day 76.
Ella Kraft of Sacramento State took the individual championship as the Hornets also won the team title from New Mexico. Long Beach State finished in sixth among the 15-team field.
Long Beach State will have a quick turnaround, playing at the Leadership and Golf Invitational hosted by Washington at Chambers Bay Golf Course next week on September 15-16.
