Men’s Basketball Adds All-Conference Guard Rob Diaz From Cal Poly Humboldt

A local product, Diaz returns to Long Beach after two outstanding seasons with the DII Lumberjacks.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Basketball has announced the commitment of Rob Diaz III, a junior guard from Long Beach who has had two very successful seasons at Cal Poly Humboldt.

Diaz was a first-team All-CCAA selection in 2024-25 after leading a massive turnaround for the Lumberjacks. Diaz was the leading scorer for Cal Poly Humboldt at 16.0 points per game, shooting 35.5% from three while making 62 assists, 53 steals and 26 blocks on the season. The CCAA Freshman of the Year after leading the Lumberjacks in scoring in 2023-24, Humboldt improved from a 6-21 record that season to an 18-11 mark last season as a sophomore as Diaz shot over 50% from the floor. A native of Long Beach, Diaz played high school basketball at JSerra Catholic.

Rob Diaz is the first spring recruit joining the incoming class of 2025, which includes two November signees in forward Dallas Washington and guard Gavin Sykes.
