Long Beach State Wraps Up Busy Track & Field Weekend

LBSU turned in a pair of school top-10's at Texas State
The Long Beach State track and field teams wrapped up a busy weekend of competition Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas—Long Beach State turned in several competitive performances at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist.
MEN
Kyle Jankans finished fifth in the A high jump, clearing 6-11.
Novye' James went 49-9 in the A triple jump to turn in a ninth-place performance.
Canaan Wharry placed 14th in the A Discus after posting a toss of 166-11.
WOMEN
Maren Butler finished 12th in the B discus, throwing 156-10. Butler returned in the afternoon to compete in the A shot put, where they threw a season-best 49-2 1/4. Butler placed 10th.
LBSU alum Hailey Fune' competed in the Invitational Hurdles, finishing fifth (13.56).

SAN MARCOS, Texas—Long Beach State registered a pair of school top-10 results at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational.
MEN
The 4x100m relay of Moray Steward, Tristyn Flores, Vincent Jones, and Malik Harness ran 40.01. The time is the sixth fastest in school history, earning the team a third-place showing.
Micah Norfles finished seventh in the hammer (203-7). Tyler Knowles (183-6) placed 20th.
Jaylon Wells was 12th in the shot (54-6 1/2).
WOMEN
Milani Bell ran the ninth-quickest 400m in school history, 54.80, to register a fifth-place finish.
Giszelle Hrehor finished fifth in the hammer throw after recording a 187-8 toss on the fifth of her six attempts.

IRVINE, Calif.—Long Beach State sent two entries to UC Irvine's Vince O'Boyle Classic Saturday.
Tayah DeSousa ran a season-best 14.51 in the 100m hurdles to finish ninth.
Sammy Chang threw the discus 133-1, resulting in 13th-place.
UP NEXT
Long Beach State hosts the inaugural Battle at the Beach on Friday, welcoming Grand Canyon, LSU, USC, and Oregon to Jack Rose Track. The field events begin at 10 a.m.; the track races start at noon.
LBSU will also have entries in the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic next weekend.
