THIS WEEK
Long Beach State hosts the inaugural Battle at the Beach Friday at the Jack Rose Track. Joining the Beach are Grand Canyon, LSU, Oregon, and USC. The field events are set for 10 a.m., and the track events get underway at noon.

Long Beach State is ranked 16th in the first USTFCCCA TFRI Checkpoint, which was released on Tuesday. The USC women are ranked No. 1 in the poll, while the Trojans' men are ranked second. LSU's men are ranked No. 15, while the Tigers' women are ranked 17th.

In the USTFCCCA Regional TFRI Men's Team Summary, the USC men lead the West, followed by Long Beach State. Grand Canyon's men are ninth in the West. LSU is ninth in the South Central Region.

USC leads the West Region on the women's side, with Long Beach State fifth and Grand Canyon coming in 13th. LSU is fourth in the South Central Region.

It is once again a busy week for the Beach programs. LBSU will send Cameron Gill, Cristian Martinez, Cameron Rhone, and Levi Taylor to the Stanford Invitational to run in the men's 1500m. The 1500m is scheduled in two sessions on Friday at 1:39 p.m. and 6:32 p.m.

Martinez and Rhone are entered in the 800m, which is scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Finally, LBSU will send Canaan Wharry to UC San Diego's Triton Invitational on Saturday. Wharry will be throwing the Discus at 1:30 p.m.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
On the current NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List, Kyle Jankans is second in the high jump (7-3) while Ryan Gregory is third in the decathlon (7,557).

On the current NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List, Rahni Turner is 14th in the 100m hurdles (13.30), with Sofia Lavreshina ranking 16th in the 400m hurdles (58.13).

GREGORY NAMED FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Long Beach State's Ryan Gregory was named Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Apr. 1.

Gregory finished second in the decathlon at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist last week. Gregory finished second in the long jump (23-2), third in the 100m (10.79), tied for third in the pole vault (14-11), fourth in the high jump (6-4 3/4), fourth in the javelin (178-1), fourth in the 1500m (4:32.44), fifth in the 110m hurdles (14.81), and sixth in the 400m (48.89) during the competition. He scored 7,557 points, the third-highest total in school history, and was only 15 away from the title that North Carolina's Max Stakun-Pickering won. The score is currently the third-highest in NCAA Division I.
