
Forster, Long Beach State Lead Lake Las Vegas Invitational After First Day

HENDERSON, Nev. – Senior Charlie Forster shot a career-low 64, eight-under par with an eagle on 9 and just one bogey on Monday, leading Long Beach State as the Beach topped the leaderboard after the first of three rounds at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational.
Forster is at the top of the leaderboard after a 64, the best round of his career by a single stroke. The senior opened with a 30 on the back nine, making four birdies and an eagle on the Par 5 ninth, leading the field by two strokes after the first 18 on Monday.
"Incredible play today from Charlie," said head coach Rob Murray after the round. "Our work is not done though. We must stay disciplined and keep our foot on the gas."
Long Beach State is in first overall with three rounds under par on Monday. Senior Clay Seeber also got off to a great start with three birdies and no bogeys in the front nine, and finished two-under with a 70. That was tied for 10th with Alejandro de Castro Piera, who also finished with a 70 Monday as the top trio for the Beach carved up the course.
Junior Jack Cantlay, coming off of a Top 5 finish at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, was just behind those three with a 73 to start the tournament, one over par in a tie for 28th overall while sophomore Krishnav Chopraa's 76 was the team's drop score in a great day for the squad.
Long Beach State led the field as one of three teams under par with a 277 to start the tournament, two strokes in front of Northern Illinois in second place and nine strokes in front of the hosts Arkansas State.
Senior Steen Zeman, playing as an individual also had an excellent day. In just his second tournament this year, Zeman started with a 3-under par 69 to sit in fifth place overall.
