The German International had a strong first season with New Mexico prior to joining the Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Rob Murray and Long Beach State Men's Golf have announced the commitment of Division I transfer Emil Albers, who will join the program as a sophomore for the 2026-27 season.
Emil Albers | Hamburg, Germany | New Mexico
Albers comes to Long Beach State after spending one season at New Mexico. While there, Albers won the William H. Tucker Invitational, finishing 13-under par to edge two Long Beach State golfers in Jaden Huggins and Jack Cantlay in the Top 5. As a freshman, Albers ranked in the nation's Top 250 individually and played a major role for the Lobos, who closed the season ranked No. 26 as a team. Albers finished the season with a stroke average of 71.80.
Originally from Germany, Albers also has an impressive international resume. He currently ranks No. 222 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and has ranked as high as No. 114 during his career. He has two wins and four Top 10 finishes against elite international competition.
Murray on Albers:
"We're thrilled to welcome Emil to Long Beach State. He has proven himself against some of the best amateur players in the world, and his combination of talent and competitive experience makes him a tremendous addition to our program. We're excited to see the impact he'll have on our team, and I believe his best golf is still ahead of him."
Albers will join three returning golfers including First Team All-Big West selection Krishnav Chopraa as well as four incoming high school recruits drawn worldwide as the Beach chases a fifth consecutive Big West Championship.
