LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf will once again take part in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. The tournament will be held over three days at the Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada starting on February 24.
The Beach had a strong finish last year, tying for third as a team in a 22-team field and will aim to match or better that finish this year. Long Beach State has finished in the Top 5 in all five tournaments the team has competed in so far this season, and enters the tournament ranked No. 39 in the country.
The field includes a number of new opponents for the Beach, a field where Boise State and Long Beach State are the only two Western schools. Hosted by Arkansas State, the field also includes Texas State, Missouri-Kansas City, Louisiana, Long Island, Stetson, Northern Illinois, TCU, DePaul, Eastern Michigan and Southern Illinois.
Junior Jack Cantlay had a great tournament his last time out and will lead the Long Beach State lineup at Lake Las Vegas. Shooting 68-67-67 at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Cantlay closed out the tournament 8-under par and claimed fourth place in the 102-golfer field.
Alejandro de Castro Piera will play second. De Castro Piera finished under par at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in the Top 20, and has finished no lower than 24th this season with a Top 5 finish at the William H. Tucker Invitational this past fall. Seniors Charlie Forster and Clay Seeber will play third and fourth respectively for Long Beach State.
Sophomore Krishnav Chopraa will make a move into the lineup for the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. Chopraa played as an individual last time out at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, and shared 30th place with Seeber and Forster at +2 in a strong tournament.
