LONG BEACH, Calif. – Freshman Brynne Nally was named the first Big West Freshman of the Week for softball after an impressive week in her collegiate debut that included a combined no-hitter.
Nally threw a total of 11.2 innings over three appearances, leading Long Beach State with an 0.60 ERA while also striking out six batters and allowing just one earned run.
The freshman from Garden Grove made her collegiate debut with a start against Seattle, and allowed one earned run over 6.0 innings on the way to the win.
Returning to action the following day, Nally would allow just one baserunner over the course of 3.0 innings per work with a walk, continuing the effort started by Shannon Haddad as the senior and freshman worked together to finish just the second combined no-hitter in school history.
Finally, making her home debut against No. 2 Oklahoma, Nally struck out a career-high four batters across 2.2 scoreless innings in Long Beach State's 11-inning battle with the Sooners.
Long Beach State will have a busy week at home, scheduled to play six games between now and Saturday starting with a home game against Winthrop at 4 p.m. on Tuesday on ESPN+.
