VanLaningham is a Top 50 recruit at his position as scouted by ESPN.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chris Acker and his staff have added one high school recruit in the early signing period, securing the commitment of Max VanLaningham from Woodcreek High School.
Max VanLaningham | 6-8 | Forward | Roseville, Calif.
VanLaningham is a big man out of Roseville, Calif., who is rated in the Top 50 at his position by both ESPN and 24/7 Sports as well as earning a consensus Top 30 in the class out of the state of California. Last season, with Woodcreek High School, VanLaningham averaged close to a double-double at 15.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, showing consistent improvement over his last three seasons while looking for a breakout final season. He helped lead Woodcreek to a 24-8 overall record last season and reaching the CIF-Sac Joaquin Division 2 semifinals.
Acker on VanLaningham:
"Max is a very important recruit as we continue to build our program, and I'm so excited to have him join us. We were looking for a player that would come in and be willing to do anything that was asked of him to help us win. We were looking for a guy that could play and guard multiple positions with a chip on his shoulder, and Max is absolutely that guy. I'm really looking forward to what he'll show our fans when he arrives on campus next season."
