Long Beach State will take part in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf begins their fall season this coming Monday, taking part in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
Held on the UNM Championship Course with two rounds scheduled for Monday, September 9 and finishing with a final round on Tuesday, September 10, the Beach will look to start off the season strong as the team aims for another trip to the NCAA postseason as well as defending the team's 2024 Big West championship.
Two-time defending Big West Individual Medalist Jasmine Leovao will lead off the lineup to start the season. Long Beach State's low round record holder with an 8-under 64 last season, the junior became just the second individual in program history to advance on to the NCAA Championship.
Twin sister Janae will play second for the Beach. Janae Leovao had a very strong fall as a sophomore, leading Long Beach State in three of the team's four tournaments last year, including placing second at the Golf Iconic Classic and tied for third at The Clash at Boulder Creek, both tournaments that Long Beach State won as a team.
Sophomore Erin Lee will play third for Long Beach State, playing her third tournament representing the team after impressing in qualifying. Last year's Big West Freshman of the Year, Andee Avery, will play fourth while looking to continue her great form from last season, while junior Madison Le will round out the lineup. Le was a Second Team All-Big West selection one year ago.
Graduate transfer Hannah Jugar will make her Long Beach State debut as an individual in New Mexico. A four-time First-Team All-American at Redlands, the Division III star will look to challenge herself at a higher level this season in her final year of collegiate golf.
The field includes three other Big West programs in Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton and Hawai'i. Hosts New Mexico are playing as well, and the remainder of the 15-team field includes BYU, Chattanooga, Grand Canyon, Kennesaw State, Nevada, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, Texas State, UNLV and UTEP.
Live scoring for all three rounds will be provided through Golfstat at https://results.golfstat.com//public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=29231.
