RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State turned in a dominating performance on Saturday at the SRC Arena as the Beach swept UC Riverside, 3-0 [25-9, 25-14, 26-24], to win their fourth-consecutive match.

Long Beach State started out strong hitting .619 in the first set. In the opening frame, the Beach used three separate 6-0 runs to take a commanding 24-8 lead over UC Riverside, before rolling over the Highlanders, 25-9.
The second set was much like the first as LBSU hit .480 without committing an attack error. The Beach took a quick 4-1 lead and never looked back as they led the rest of the way. Madi Collins came off the bench and proved a spark at the serving line as a Collins ace highlighted a 3-0 LBSU run that put Long Beach up 12-6. A kill from Lomigora opened up a 10-point lead (22-12) for the Beach as they cruised to a 25-14 victory.
The third set was a little more evenly matched. The Highlanders hit .241, while the Beach hit .314 and recorded their first hitting error of the match. LBSU went up 6-2 after scoring three-straight points, but UC Riverside chipped away and evened the score at 12-all. The Beach went back up by three (15-12) at the media timeout, but UCR countered to make it a one-point game (21-20). Following a Long Beach State timeout, the Beach tallied three-straight to push it to match point (24-20). However, the Highlanders wouldn't go quietly. Riverside used a 3-0 run of its own to come within one (24-23), before the Beach put the game and match away, 26-24.
Sophia Ewalefo led the Highlanders with seven kills on a .500 clip, while libero Jessica Dean finished the match with 10 digs. At setter, Makena Tong and McKinley Chase dished out nine and six assists, respectively.
