Freshman Gabi Acosta Named Men’s Water Polo Big West Player Of The Week

The freshman scored 10 goals on the weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West announced Wednesday that freshman Gabi Acosta was awarded Big West weekly honors. Acosta has been a key piece on the Beach offense helping the team with 19 goals so far in the season. The center also has two assists, seven steals and 11 earned ejections in seven games played for the Beach.
At the MPSF Invite this past weekend, Acosta scored 10 goals. The freshman recorded two hat-tricks in the weekend on the losses against No. 2 USC and No. 7 Princeton. Against No. 3 Stanford and No. 13 UC Davis, Acosta recorded a pair of goals in each.
Acosta comes from a busy summer representing Team Spain at the 19U European Championships where he helped his team win a bronze medal.
Long Beach State (7-5) hosts Air Force (8-6) on Friday at 6 p.m. at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
