Forster Tied For Third Following Day One Of William H. Tucker Invitational

Long Beach State will close out their six-round week with a final round Saturday.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Senior Charlie Forster closed his day with back-to-back birdies to shoot a 3-under 69 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, finishing tied for third overall after two rounds at the UNM Championship Course at New Mexico.
Foster was under par in both rounds with a first round 70 before the second round 69, finishing the day 5-under par in a four-way tie. Junior Alejandro de Castro Piera also carded a 70 in the first round before a second-round 73, finishing the day at 1-under par in a tie for 22nd overall in the 96 player field.
One stroke back was Clay Seeber, who shot a 74 in the first round before coming back with a 70 in the second, helped by an eagle on his first hole of the round before catching fire to close the round with three birdies in his final four holes.
Jack Cantlay shot a one-under 71 in the first round before a second round 74, while Jaden Huggins rounded out the lineup with a 74 in the first round followed by a second round 73. Individual Krishnav Chopraa started the day with a 76 before wrapping with a one-over 73, ending the day tied for 62nd.
Paced by the two individual leaders, hosts New Mexico lead the tournament through two rounds with Grand Canyon and Colorado also in front of the Beach entering the final day at the top of the 17-team field.
"The boys played very solid today," said head coach Rob Murray. "It was a mental and physical grind with the amount of golf we have played this week. We're in good shape heading into the final round, we'll get some rest tonight and come out firing tomorrow."
