Long Beach State will play in two tournaments this week, playing 108 holes by the end of Saturday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf is getting an early challenge out of the gate, taking part in two tournaments in the opening week of the season, starting with the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. on Tuesday and Wednesday before taking on the William Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque Friday and Saturday.
Long Beach State has high goals for the season. After winning two straight Big West titles and three of the last four, the Beach is aiming for a return to the postseason as well as pushing towards the NCAA Championship, which is returning to Southern California at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
In the third season under Rob Murray, Long Beach State brings back a veteran core as every player who competed at the Big West Championship and in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional is returning for the Beach.
Clay Seeber was the top finisher for the Beach at the Big West Championship last season as the conference runner-up, and returns as a senior following a First Team All-Big West selection. He was joined on the first team by Charlie Forster, another returning senior who was the top finisher in the postseason for Long Beach State, finishing in fourth place at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional a year ago, 11-under par.
That duo will lead the Long Beach State lineup this week, with Seeber leading the lineup and Forster playing second at Colorado State. Junior Jaden Huggins will play third for Long Beach State, with junior Jack Cantlay playing fourth. Alejandro de Castro Piera, a junior who played well in the postseason for the Beach will round out the lineup while Krishnav Chorpraa will play as an individual after redshirting the 2023-24 season.
In addition to the hosts Colorado State and the Beach, the rest of the Ram Masters Invitational Field will include Colorado, Denver, UC Santa Barbara, Valparaiso, Rice, Utah Tech, Sacramento State, Wyoming, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Northern Colorado, Idaho, UC Davis and Utah Valley.
