Fune' Advances At US Olympic Trials In 100m Hurdles

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Hailey Fune' advanced to the semifinals of the 100m hurdles Friday night at the US Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field.
Fune', the 2024 Big West Champion in the 100m hurdles, ran 13.37 to finish seventh in her heat. Fune's performance was 23rd overall. The three semifinals will begin Saturday at 5:04 p.m. PDT. The top two in each semi-automatically advance, followed by the next three fastest times.
Turning to the Long Beach State men, Omri Shiff competed in two events at the 88th Israeli Championships this week. On June 27, Shiff won the national title in the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.83. Earlier in the week, Shiff was second in the 200m at the meet after running 21.35. Unfortunately for Shiff, neither time automatically met the Olympic standard.
On Friday night, Aidan Turner entered two events at the Bell Track and Field Trials at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex in Montreal, Quebec.
Turner finished second in the pole vault of the U20 Championships with a leap of 15-3. He later placed fourth in the long jump of the U20 Championships as he went 22-8 1/2.

Tayah DeSousa enters a pair of events on Saturday at the Bell Track and Field Trials with a chance to move on to Paris. After finishing second (19-0 3/4) in Thursday's preliminaries, DeSousa will be competing in the long jump finals, which begin at 3 p.m. PDT. She is also entered in the 100m hurdles on Saturday. The preliminaries start at 3:03 p.m. PDT, and the finals are set at 6:28 p.m. PDT.
Turner will compete in Canada's senior long jump on Saturday at 5 p.m. PDT.
Sofia Lavreshina looks to qualify for Paris at Portugal's National Championships in the 400m and 400m hurdles from June 29-30.
