After a historic season, the Big West champions are set to begin the postseason at the NCAA Regionals in Washington.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Winners of three team titles, including the Big West Championship to secure their spot on the postseason, Long Beach State begins their postseason journey at the Cle Elum Regional hosted by Washington at Tumble Creek Club.

Long Beach State three team championship wins were the most in one season in program history, and Sophomore Jasmine Leovao became just the fifth golfer in Big West history to repeat as the individual medalist at the championship, and the first since 2003 and 2004.

All five members of the lineup participating this week received All-Big West honors, tying a program record and the Beach had three members selected as First Team, an honor matched only by the program's first team to reach the NCAA postseason, the 2006 squad led by Sue Ewart and headlined by Long Beach State Hall of Famer Kay Hoey, former LBSU assistant coach Katy Barrett and Hayley Wilkinson.

The 2024 team finished in the Top Three in five separate tournaments and won both of their tri-dual competitions, and saw 17 Top 10 finishes from their individuals across the nine tournaments the Beach participated in during the regular season.

First-Team All-Big West selection and back-to-back Big West champ Jasmine Leovao will lead off the postseason lineup for Long Beach State. Leovao had the team's low round of the year, an 8-under par 64 at The Clash at Boulder Creek and was the top finisher for the team at both the Boilermaker Classic and Long Beach State's Tri-Dual with Boise State and UC Riverside, where she was the runner up after a final round 67.

Big West Freshman of the Year Andee Avery will play second. Another First Team All-Big West selection, Avery placed in a tie for third at the Big West Championships and was in the Top 10 in five of Long Beach State nine tournaments in the regular season. Additionally, the true freshman was the top individual at the CSUN/CSUB/LBSU Tri-Dual with a 3-under 69 at Soule Park Golf Club, and also placed on the podium at Long Beach State's Tri-Dual with Boise State and UC Riverside.

Another First Team All-Big West selection and the twin sister of Jasmine Leovao, Janae Leovao will play third. Leovao and Avery shared third place at the Big West Championship, and Janae was the team's top finisher in four tournaments this season, including in both of the team's Fall championships at the Golf Iconic Classic and The Clash at Boulder Creek.

Sophomore Madison Le will play fourth for Long Beach State. Le tied for sixth place at the Golf Iconic Classic. Coming back from a concussion in the spring, Le shot 6-under par as an individual at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in a Top 10 finish and then tied for eighth place at the Big West Championship at Spanish Trail Country Club. Le was a Second Team All-Big West selection.

Finally, senior Angelina Kim will round out the lineup. The 2023 Dr. Donnis Thompson Individual Medalist, Kim competed in every event for Long Beach State this season as a veteran presence and was the team's top finisher at the Silicon Valley Showcase, placing in the Top 10.

The field will include top seed Stanford, Arizona State and the hosts Washington from the Pac-12. The other qualifying teams include Duke, Virginia, San Jose State, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Sacramento State and Seattle University. Six individuals will also play in New Mexico State's Emma Bunch, San Francisco's Riana Mission, Nebraska's Kelli Ann Strand, Colorado's Morgan Miller and Sabrina Iqbal, and Madelyn Gamble from Washington State.

The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to compete in the national championships to be played May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

For Long Beach State, 2024 marks the fifth team postseason appearance and the first since 2019. The Beach also made the Regionals during the 2006, 2009 and 2018 campaigns. Long Beach State has also had four individuals compete, most recently Jasmine Leovao last season. Kay Hoey, one of those individuals, remains the only Long Beach State women's golfer to advance to the NCAA Championship, having done so in 2005 and 2007 as an individual.

Long Beach State begins their first round on Monday, May 6 at 9:55 a.m., and will play two following rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be provided by Golfstat.
