Long Beach State completes a home-and-home midweek set with San Diego State Tuesday night when the Aztecs travel to Long Beach.

SCOUTING THE AZTECS
After falling to the Dirtbags last Tuesday, San Diego State dropped two of three against UNLV over the weekend in San Diego.

Colby Turner continues to lead the team in hitting (.378), home runs (4), and RBI (29). He also paces the club in slugging (.622) and on-base percentage (.424).

Jacob McCombs was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week on Monday. In four starts as a designated hitter, he hit .467 (7-15) with one double, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Freshman lefty Chris Canavan will open a staff day for the Aztecs. He has appeared in 14 games, with Tuesday as his second start. Canavan is 0-2 with an 8.50 ERA. He has struck out 23 in 18 innings.

AGAINST THE OPPONENT
Long Beach State defeated San Diego State 6-3 last Tuesday night. The Aztecs lead the all-time series 89-56-1.

CHAMPAGNE STEALS
Alex Champagne stole three bases against CSUN on Apr. 15 to become the first Dirtbags player to record three swipes in a game since Connor Kokox stole three at Hawai'i on Mar. 21, 2021.

He stole four bases in the last four games (in five attempts) and now leads the team in the category with 12 (12-15). In the past four games, he is hitting .500 (7-14) with a .648 slugging and .558 on-base percentage.

STRONG WEEK FOR MARINCONZ
Senior second baseman Nick Marinconz is coming off a strong week. In four games from Apr. 9-15, he hit .500 (7-14) with one home run and four RBI. Marinconz posted a .786 slugging and a .556 on-base percentage last week.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Weather altered Long Beach State's series at CSUN. The Matadors swept a doubleheader last Friday before the Dirtbags overcame a 6-0 deficit to defeat CSUN 10-7 on Monday afternoon. Here are the recaps;
